So your going on a planned and prepared road trip and now, as part of your planning, you need to decided where to stay on the way to your destination. As not everyone drives a house with wheels most of us need to consider where to sleep on our trip. Where to Stay: The basic Pro's and Cons of Various OptionsCampsite - Campsites are the cheapest option besides from sleeping in your car. They are also usually the most social and provide the most woodsy experience. Often they are however closed in the off season and sometimes require pre-booking and weather tends to have great impact on the enjoyment of your stay. Winter weather, or storms are not usually pleasant to spend in a tent and small campers also don't usual provide the space necessary to pass long periods of time indoors. The Back seat - Cheapest option. Terribly uncomfortable and usually results in a sore back and often will damage your relationship. I recommend trying to avoid having to result to this option. Motel - Usually fairly cheap and comfortable in bad weather. Often not very nice and you tend to be surrounded by traveling sales persons and other unpleasant individuals. Bonus, you get access to TV and hot water. Usually the only in room hot food option will be to call out for delivery or take out. Hotel - Most expensive option, also the most comfortable. Hot water, usually comfortable beds, food on demand etc. Personally i prefer to use a combination of overnight stay options. I usually camp but if on an extended trip ill try and spend at least one night in a hotel or motel because of the difficulties of finding shower facilities at most campsites.
